Before we roll up our sleeves, we put our thinking caps on. In the quoting stage, our in-house Quantity Surveyor prepares detailed planning and costing documentation. This provides our clients with a level of visibility and assurance that most builders our size can’t achieve. Then, throughout the building process, we explore creative solutions and solve practical issues to reduce costs and enhance outcomes.

Meet The Team
Licensed Building Practitioner, qualified carpenter, and member of both Certified Builders and Master Builders.
I’m the founder of Coughlan Homes. After I qualified as a carpenter in 2001, I travelled overseas where I experienced the best and worst of building, from large commercial projects in central London to building a sunshade at an orphanage while backpacking in Uganda.
After I returned to New Zealand, I began work on the two most important projects of my life – my family and a business I could be proud of.
I’m passionate about creating environments to thrive in. My goal is to have a team (including myself) that strives to be a little bit better every day, always learning and working together to get the best outcome for our clients and ourselves.
In my downtime I’m usually on the sidelines watching my kids play their many sports. I’ve always played a lot of sport myself, including playing for Burnside Rugby who we are proud to sponsor.
I’m known as ‘mission control’ for the business. I’m a qualified secondary school teacher, and have many years’ experience running a busy household, so as you can imagine, if something needs organising, I am onto it!
At Coughlan Homes my passion is keeping the business running efficiently behind the scenes including handling the financial aspects and overall business administration. This helps our team members to focus on doing what they do best.
Seeing others do well makes gives me a huge sense of satisfaction, whether that’s our team at Coughlan, our valued clients or the people around me day-to-day.
When I’m not working, I’m pretty much an Uber driver to my three sporty children, shuttling them to games and practices multiple times a week. I also love spending time with family and friends.
I’m a qualified Quantity Surveyor and the ‘numbers man’ at Coughlan Homes. My job is to develop and provide accurate quoting and scheduling for our clients and team. I also oversee our internal systems, run our project management software, and manage the Health and Safety side of the business.
I’m proud to work at Coughlan Homes. It’s a business with real heart and I like that our focus is on building great futures for our clients, our staff and our company.
Outside work you’re most likely to find me hanging out with my young family. I especially love making trips over to the West Coast where I was brought up or visiting family on the other side of the world.
